Celtic are exploring a deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Alfie Devine this summer.
Tottenham are splashing the cash this summer and they have already secured the big-money signing of Mateus Fernandes.
Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali looks set to follow suit in what would be a club-record deal.
The arrival of two new midfielders will push Devine further down the pecking order and he probably would have struggled to break through even without any signings.
Football Insider have reported that Tottenham are open to a sale and that Celtic are at the front of the queue to sign the player.
It is claimed that a bid in the region of £4-6million will be required to secure Devine's signature.
Celtic have been linked with a variety of midfielders this summer but a deal to sign Devine could prove to be shrewd business.
Devine enjoyed a successful loan spell at Preston North End last season where he scored eight goals in 45 league appearances.
However, Preston have opted against triggering the option to buy in his loan deal, which was worth £4.5million.
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill is said to be a big fan of the midfielder and he would certainly add another strong option in midfield for the Scottish Premiership champions.
