Everton could be dealt blow in pursuit of former player

Everton target Jack Grealish could be handed a lifeline at Manchester City next season.

Grealish impressed in a loan spell at the Hill Dickinson Stadium last season and he made 20 appearances for the club.

Injury cruelly curtailed his season at a time where he was being earmarked for a potential England recall, but Everton are keen to secure a reunion next season.

Any deal for Grealish would more than likely be a second loan spell given the salary he is on at Manchester City.

However, TEAMtalk have reported that his career at the Etihad Stadium might not yet be over.

It is claimed that new Man City manager Enzo Maresca is keen to evaluate the player over pre-season, which is likely to mean that any deal will not be possible for Everton in the short-term.

If Grealish is able to impress the new coaching team at the club, he could find himself back in the first-team picture after being frozen out under Pep Guardiola.

Whilst Everton have swooped for Chelsea winger Tyrique George, they are keen to secure Grealish's signature as they attempt to force their way into European contention next season.

Grealish moved to Manchester in the summer of 2021 for an eye-watering fee of £100 million and he has been part of a team that have won three Premier League titles as well as the UEFA Champions League.

However, the maverick side of his game has gradullay decreased over the last couple of seasons as he was bedded into Guardiola's possession style of football.

If he can rediscover his creativity and top form then there is no reason why Grealish can't enjoy more success at the top-level of English football.
