Celtic and Rangers could go head-to-head for the signing of Örgryte IS defender Michael Parker this summer.
Parker is a towering defender who has caught the eye of several clubs across Europe since joining the Swedish side in February.
The 21-year-old made the move to Sweden from West Bromwich Albion after impressing on a two-week trial.
He represented Huddersfield Town, Shrewsbury Town and Burnley during his youth career before moving on to West Brom.
He was an unnamed substitute on two occasions for the Baggies ahead of a loan spell at Hereford United at the start of last season.
Whilst Örgryte IS are struggling at the foot of the Allsvenskan table, Parker has impressed enough to catch the attention of the Old Firm clubs according to Football Insider.
Whilst Belgian side Anderlecht and Serie A outfit Udinese have been mooted as possible destinations, Celtic and Rangers are believed to be at the front of the queue.
Although typically a centre-back, Parker can also operate as a makeshift left-back and his outstanding form has been quite the transformation from reserve team football.
Both clubs have sent scouts to watch the defender in recent times and it is believed that bids could be imminent.
Parker is under contract until the summer of 2028 but the lure of either of the Scottish giants would almost certainly tempt the player.
Rangers are looking for further defensive reinforcements under new manager Derek McInnes despite the acquisition of Ben Godfrey, while Celtic have been linked with various defenders this summer.
