Goodwood headlines the weekend action across England and nine are set to head to post for the feature Celebration Mile.
Although the race's proximity to the Ebor Festival often sees the heavy hitters in the mile division swerve a trip to Goodwood, there are two Group 1 winners making their way to the Sussex venue on Saturday afternoon.
The first of which, Zavateri, returns to action just seven days after finishing fifth behind Notable Speech in the City Of York Stakes.
Eve Johnson Houghton's star colt has been running with credit in deep waters this season and connections will be hoping that a drop in class can see him enter the winner's enclosure for the first time in almost a year.
Back over the same course and distance as his fine effort in the Sussex Stakes, a repeat of that performance should see him go close.
Qirat managed to win the Sussex Stakes in 2025 after stealing a march on the rest of his rivals when playing pacemaker and, although that is undoubtedly the highlight of his career, he has developed into quite a consistent performer for connections.
He does have something to find with Zavateri on his Sussex performance this year, however, that was his second run of the week after being defeated by just one-and-a-quarter-lengths in the Lennox just one day prior.
There are plenty with course form among this field, with Boiling Point and Seagulls Eleven both boasting winning form at the track. The latter took the Thoroughbred Stakes little over 12 months ago and can be forgiven for his poor showing here at the end of July.
His Diomed Stakes win over Persica reads rather well now, as does his narrow second to Zeus Olympios, whose subsequent runner-up in the Prix Jacques le Marois gives significant substance to that form.
