The Paul Nolan-trained Nicky Larson can get punters off to a flying start in the opening 2m1½f hurdle for three-year-olds.
A maiden on the Flat after six runs, the son of Galiway caught the eye on his hurdling debut at Limerick when a close third behind Minella Rocket, the form of which has been franked as the winner has subsequently won twice on the Flat.
Sent off a 4/1 chance for his next outing at Ballinrobe, he showed marked improvement when coasting to victory without having to reach for the whip, with three of his rivals here in behind him on the day.
If he turns up in similar form, he should take the world of beating under Sean Flanagan, who was aboard the last time out.
17:37 Down Royal - Bruant @ 6/1
Tony Martin had incredible success at the Galway Festival and, with many of the yard's runners still running well in defeat of late, Bruant is of serious interest in the 2m1½f handicap hurdle.
Twice a winner on the Flat in France, he has won twice at Downpatrick for this yard, with his last victory there in May when getting up right on the line after a patient ride.
Bruant's effort at Sligo last time can be marked up. His hold-up style of running didn't suit the very sharp nature of the track, while he also ran very keenly early doors.
Despite a few jumping errors thrown in, he still managed to finish second and he should be more than capable of getting involved, having been raised just 1lb.
It would be no surprise to see support for him in the betting given his connections.
18:47 Down Royal - Rocky's Diamond @ 5/2
Waterford-based handler Declan Queally makes the lengthy journey to Down Royal with just one runner and that's Rocky's Diamond in the 3m hurdle.
Queally has been in magnificent form, sending out eight winners from his last 23 runners since the start of July, and the selection should be well up to landing this affair if he is anywhere near his best.
Fourth to Bob Olinger in last year's Stayers' Hurdle at Cheltenham, he landed the odds in a small-field 3m1f hurdle at Kilbeggan earlier this month, and looked in need of a stiffer test when third over fences at Tramore six days later.
First-time cheekpieces go on now and he has a massive chance at the weights.
