Sinclair Armstrong is close to joining Turkish outfit Goztepe, according to reports in the Irish Examiner.
It is understood that the 22-year-old striker is currently in Izmir to complete a medical ahead of a £2.2m switch.
Once capped for the Republic Of Ireland, Armstrong swapped Queens Park Rangers for Bristol City in the summer of 2024 and has netted seven league goals in more than 80 Championship appearances for the club.
The Dubliner was rumoured to be a target for the Turkish side last summer, however, the Robins were not keen on a sale because, by the time Goztepe made their interest known, the transfer window had already shut in England.
Therefore, with no time to sign an adequate replacement, Armstrong stayed put.
But, talks have reportedly reached a far more advanced stage and an official announcement is expected to come when the Turkish Super Lig window opens on 21st June.
Armstrong, whilst featuring a lot in the immediate aftermath of his move, fell heavily out of favour under the interim reign of Roy Hodgson. The former England manager dropped him to the bench, instead preferring the likes of Emil Riis and Delano Burgzorg through the middle.
Goztepe were only promoted back to the Turkish top-flight in 2024 but finishes of eighth and sixth in the following two years represent a positive return.
Former Southampton striker Juan Santos da Silva finished as their top goalscorer with 11 last season and if Armstrong can advance on that tally, then European football might be a realistic aim for Stanimir Stoilov's men next campaign.
