Bristol City are competing with Queens Park Rangers for the signature of Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Sam Tickle.
The 24-year-old stopper has been ever-present for Wigan in League One during the last three seasons.
He has developed into the one of the most talented goalkeepers in the EFL and has regularly been linked with a move to the Championship.
The former England Under-21 international looks ready to make the step up next season and a battle to secure the signing is already hotting up.
Alan Nixon reported that QPR that were looking to strike a deal at the weekend, while it has also now been reported by Football League World that Bristol City are keen to swoop.
QPR are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department with Paul Nardi and Ben Hamer leaving the club this summer.
Meanwhile, Bristol City are also in the market for a goalkeeper following the end of Radek Vitek's loan move from Manchester United.
Vitek enjoyed a successful time at Ashton Gate and is likely to secure a loan at a higher level due to the lack of first-team opportunites at Old Trafford.
New Robins manager Michael Skubala will be keen to bring in a quality 'keeper and Tickle is one that he will know well following his time in League One.
Tickle is valued at around £2 million and that fee could turn out to be a bargain if his arrival pushes Bristol City or QPR up towards the play-off places next season.
