We take a look at the contenders to be the next manager of Lincoln City after Michael Skubala left the club to join Bristol City.
Skubala led Lincoln to the League One title as the Imps amassed an astonishing 103 points during the 2025/26 season.
Championship football is on the horizon this August but the club will prepare for the second tier with a new man at the helm.
Here are our top five contenders to be the next Lincoln manager following Skubala's move to Bristol City.
Stockport County manager Dave Challinor led the club to the League One play-off final this season.
They came unstuck against Bolton Wanderers at Wembley but it was another strong season under the former long-throw specialist.
Challinor boasts an incredible record of securing a play-off place or better in each of his 15 full seasons as a manager.
Richie Wellens has been manager of Leyton Orient since March 2022 having previously managed the likes of Swindon Town and Doncaster Rovers.
He led Orient to the League One play-off final in 2024/25 before losing to Charlton Athletic, but last season was a disappointing one as the club finished one place above the relegation zone.
Wellens likes to implement an attacking style of play and demands high intensity from his players.
Stevenage manager Alex Revell has done an excellent job at the club over the last couple of years.
Despite having the likes of Luton Town and Plymouth Argyle chasing them down, Stevenage secured a place in the League One play-offs last season.
The chance to manage at a higher level could appeal to Revell unless he believes he can lead Stevenage to promotion.
Gary Rowett looks set to depart Leicester City following their relegation to League One.
The 52-year-old has managed a host of clubs in the Championship and Lincoln could turn to him in an attempt to stabilise themselves in the Championship.
A chance to stay in the second-tier would also appeal to Rowett and it might be his best chance to do so.
Former Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has been linked with a move to Leicester this summer.
If Leicester opt for an alternative, a move to Lincoln would also be appealing given his struggles at the bottom of the League One table last season.
Ferguson provides a wealth of experience and he will feel that he has a point to prove at Championship level.
