Bradford City are set to complete the signing of Barnsley midfielder Adam Phillips.
The midfielder has been an integral part of the team at Oakwell in recent years after joining from Burnley in September 2022.
Phillips has made 180 appearances for Barnsley over the past four seasons and he has weighed in with 42 goals.
He has reached double figures in each of those four campaigns and his imminent departure will leave a big hole for Barnsley.
Journalist Pete O'Rourke has reported that Bradford have pressed ahead with their pursuit of the player and they are now set to conclude a deal for an undisclosed fee.
At the age of 28, Phillips is in the prime of his career and his move to Barnsley's League One rivals suggests that he feels Bradford are the better option to secure Championship football.
The Bantams won promotion from League Two in the 2024/25 season and they enjoyed a positive first season in League One under the stewardship of Graham Alexander.
They finished fourth in the table before succumbing to Bolton Wanderers over two legs in the play-off semi-finals.
Bradford will be targeting another promotion campaign next season and the capture of Phillips is certainly a statement of intent to the rest of the league.
