Aston Villa eye move for West Ham star Jarrod Bowen

According to reports, Aston Villa hold a strong interest in West Ham and England star Jarrod Bowen.

Bowen, 29, has been consistently linked with a move to various sides competing in the UEFA Champions League, with West Ham's relegation to the Championship alerting a number of suitors, including Aston Villa.

The Villans, who secured a fourth place Premier League finish last season - alongside lifting the UEFA Europa League trophy - have been linked with a significant number of attacking players so far this summer, particularly in wide positions.

Bowen fits the profile of an Unai Emery player, with the former Hull City man an extremely hard worker and currently in the prime of his career.

As a result, the Athletic have reported that Aston Villa hold a 'strong interest' in West Ham's star player, who scored nine goals and registered 11 assists in the Premier League last season, despite the Hammers' relegation.

In total, Bowen has played 280 matches across all competitions for West Ham, scoring 85 goals and registering 54 assists from right wing, while he was also a key part of the Hammers' famous UEFA Conference League win back in 2022/23.

The Athletic report highlights that Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is a huge admirer of Bowen, who is yet to decide whether his future still lies at the London Stadium.

While interest may be there, any deal for Bowen is likely to be difficult to compete - especially for the Villans - with the suggestion that negotiations for the 29 year-old, who has four years left on his current deal, would begin at the £50m mark.

With Villa's widely reported financial constraints, it appears unlikely that they will make any signing of that price - even if Morgan Rogers is sold this summer - making any move for Bowen appear to be a dream at this stage.

Still, as the club look to embark on their second UEFA Champions League campaign in as many seasons, their squad is in need of an injection of quality and Jarrod Bowen would be a top signing for Aston Villa.

At 29 years-old, having missed out on selection for the 2026 World Cup, it could be now or never for Bowen to secure the big move of his career, to compete consistently at the top end of the Premier League and re-establish himself at international level.
