New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox: Prediction, Props, & Best Bets (6/28)

New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox are set for a rivalry matchup on Sunday, June 28 at Fenway Park in Boston.

The Red Sox have dominated this series up to this point. Boston has taken each of the first three matchups and is looking to complete the four-game sweep with a win on Sunday night.

On the other side, the Yankees are looking to get back on track after dropping six of their last eight games.

First pitch is set for 7:20 p.m. ET on Sunday Night Baseball.

Yankees vs. Red Sox betting picks and predictions

Red Sox ML (-120)

The Red Sox have controlled this series in impressive fashion and they should feel good about their chances of finding the win column once again on Sunday night.

Sonny Gray is set to toe the rubber for Boston and he tends to put his team in a strong position to win.

The 36-year-old right-hander enters this matchup with a strong 2.95 ERA and 1.19 WHIP through 76.1 innings of work. He owns a W/L record of 9-1 and the Red Sox have won 10 of his 14 starts.

Gray isn't going to rack up the strikeouts or light up the radar gun, but he is a seasoned veteran who knows how to work around the plate and generate weak contact.

The Yankees have managed to score just five total runs through the first three games of this series, so Gray seems to be in a favorable position to have another successful outing.

New York will send left-hander Carlos Rodon to the bump. He could have a tough assignment on his hands, as the Red Sox have handled left-handed pitching well this season.

Boston ranks 3rd in all of baseball with a team OPS of .766 when facing southpaws and they should be able to put together solid at-bats against Rodon.

Playing at home, look for the Red Sox to complete the sweep against their arch rivals.

Over 8.0 (-110)

Rodon owns a 4.03 ERA through four starts in June and his walk numbers remain a bit concerning.

He has issued 22 free passes through 41.1 innings of work this season, and his K/BB ratio of 2.1 is his lowest since all the way back in 2018.

Furthermore, Rodon hasn’t been as effective on the road as he has been at home.

He sports a solid 2.81 when pitching from the comfort of Yankee Stadium, but that number increases to 4.26 away from the Bronx. The Red Sox should be able to find some success at the plate.

Gray has great numbers on the season, but New York’s lineup still presents some challenges and this will be Gray’s second time facing the Yankees this month.

He allowed three runs on eight hits over the course of 6.1 innings back on June 5. He also managed to collect just three strikeouts and issued a pair of walks.

The Yankees have struggled to score runs in this series, but they are still one of the most dangerous offenses in MLB.

They still rank 7th in total runs this season, and they should be able to find some success offensively as well.

With a total of 8.0, the over is the play.
