World Cup co-hosts Canada begin their campaign with a tricky clash against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Friday in Toronto.
Under Jesse Marsch the Reds will have ambitions of reaching the World Cup knockout stage this summer.
Recently 2-0 friendly victory over fellow qualifiers Uzbekistan was followed by a 1-1 draw with the Republic of Ireland in Montreal.
Bosnia came through two playoff ties to reach just their second ever World Cup. Firstly, Wales were dispatched via a penalty shootout and this set up a showdown with Italy.
A late equaliser by Haris Tabakovic sealed another 1-1 draw and the Bosnians won their second shootout in the space of five days to make a return to the World Cup after missing the 2018 and 2022 editions.
Canada have played two World Cups in the past (1986 and 2022) but have yet to win a game at the finals.
In front of a lively home crowd, they have an excellent chance of ending this run and getting their Group B campaign off to a flying start.
Marsch's men have lost just once in 90 minutes since March 2025 and have sealed wins over USA, Wales and Romania during that period.
Bosnia's warm-up matches didn't exactly go to plan. First up were North Macedonia, yet the Bosnians couldn't break through and the game finished goalless.
A few days later, Sergej Barbarez's side failed to defeat Panama in a match that finished 1-1.
With a home crowd behind them, expect Canada to make history and win their first ever World Cup finals match.
Despite the contrasting form in the recent friendly matches, Bosnia aren't in the North America to make up the numbers.
With Qatar and Switzerland the other members of Group B, the Balkans side will fancy their chances of making it through to the knockout stages.
Across eight of Bosnia's previous nine matches, both teams have found the back of the net and they have conceded against the likes of Malta, Cyprus and Panama in that run.
Canada's defence is slightly more watertight, with both teams scoring across just two of their last eight fixtures.
This, however, is the World Cup. Home advantage could be a massive confidence booster, but if things don't go their way early, the atmosphere could turn.
As such, expect Bosnia to grab a goal against Canada in this opening match of Group B.
Canada do have Jonathan David ready to enjoy a sparkling World Cup, but Bosnia have wily old veteran Edin Dzeko and that could prove to be the difference between a group stage exit or progress into the last 32.
Dzeko, of course, scored at the 2014 World Cup, while also netting against Wales in March, before setting up Tabakovic's equaliser against Italy in the playoff final.
He finished the 2025/26 campaign off strongly with Schalke, scoring six goals and registering three assists and there is no doubt he is still Bosnia's talisman.
Dzeko failed to make it off the bench in the two recent friendlies, but his experience could give Bosnia something extra in the final third.
Considering that, backing Dzeko to score anytime offers real value.
