The Washington Commanders reached the NFC Championship game for the first time in over 30 years in the 2024 NFL season.
Rookie QB Jayden Daniels had a phenomenal season under first-year head coach Dan Quinn, although his first season came to a close with a 55-23 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game.
The last time the team got to this point was in 1991, which was also the year of its most recent Super Bowl appearance - and win.
In addition to the 1991 edition, in which Washington beat the Buffalo Bills 37-24, the team has also played in the 1987, 1983, 1982 and 1972 Super Bowls.
Washington has won three of its five Super Bowl appearances.
The three Super Bowl wins were all within nine-season span, and they all came under different quarterbacks. The 1991 victory was spearheaded by QB Mark Rypien, the '87 win was led by backup QB Doug Williams after a shoulder injury to starter Jay Schroeder, and QB Joe Theismann was the figurehead of the 1983 Super Bowl-winning team.
Before the Super Bowl era, which began in 1966, Washington won NFL Championships in 1937 and 1942.
