An explosive heavyweight main event headlines this weekend's UFC Fight Night as Waldo Cortes-Acosta faces Johnny Walker.
The bout is a late replacement for the original main event which saw Sean Brady pull out of his scheduled match-up with Gabriel Bonfim due to injury.
The event will take place on Saturday 7 November at the Meta APEX, Las Vegas, Nevada, with the main card set for 9PM ET.
Our article will give you our two best bets for the main event, as well as the current moneyline odds for UFC Fight Night: Cortes-Acosta vs. Walker.
Fireworks are expected as Waldo Cortes-Acosta (17-4-0) faces Johnny Walker (23-10-0, 1 NC).
Cortes-Acosta bids to end a two-fight losing streak after falling to unanimous decision defeats to Alexander Volkov in May and Curtis Blaydes in September.
The 35-year-old had fired his way into the top 10 after taking six fights in less than 12 months between 2025 and the start of 2026, racking up a 5-1 record, with four of his wins coming via knockout against Derrick Lewis, Shamil Gaziev, Ante Delija and Ryan Spann.
The Dominican Republic fighter is now ranked at number six with his punishing jab and thudding straight right hand proving problematic for many.
Walker made his heavyweight debut last month, knocking out Mick Parkin with a knee from the clinch in the first round.
The Brazilian had campaigned at light heavyweight previously, holding an 8-7 record in that division.
Walker went 1-3 in his final four fights at 205 lbs before moving up to heavyweight to face Parkin, with a second-round TKO of Mingyang Zhang his only win, while he suffered defeats to Dominick Reyes (SD), Volkan Oezdemir (R1, TKO) and Magomed Ankalaev (R2, TKO).
An explosive and unpredictable long-range striker, the 6"6 fighter has seven KO/TKO wins from his nine UFC successes.
Walker's unpredictability has also come at a cost, he has been knocked out four times and often exposed defensively when overstretching with his unorthodox attacks.
Although Cortes-Acosta is durable, his first five-round booking comes at short notice; while Walker’s fight longevity is questionable, meaning this one could well be a shoot-out between two heavy hitters.
A third successive defeat would be a disaster for Cortes-Acosta's hopes of a renewed run at the title, while Walker could set up a top-five match-up with a victory.
Cortes-Acosta has not yet stepped up to beat the elites but he has shown he is in the higher echelons of the division and proven his toughness in never being stopped.
Walker's claims rest heavily on the fact that his durability and chin have improved due to not making the weight cut to 205 lbs.
A quick victory over a fringe-ranked contender doesn’t necessarily give us much to work with and jumping from Parkin to Cortes-Acosta is a significant gamble.
Another fight ahead of this for Walker to get used to the weight would have been ideal, however, the thudding power of Cortes-Acosta may see the Brazilian’s fragilities come to the surface once more.
