Golden State Warriors superstar guard Stephen Curry last played in a game on Jan. 30 and has been out ever since with a knee injury.
It's not a ligament injury, the team has called it "patellofemoral pain syndrome," which comes with wear and tear. It can also be known as "runner's knee."
The pain in his knee has continued for longer than expected - Curry wanted to return directly after the All-Star break.
On Wednesday, Mar. 11, the Warriors announced that Curry will be out at least 10 more days, but the sharpshooter is "extremely motivated to return for the stretch run" according to ESPN.
The Warriors (32-33) have dropped seven of their last 10 games, including three in a row. Without their leader on the court, Golden State is 9-17.
Curry, who turns 38 tomorrow, has still been terrific this season. He's averaging 27.2 points and 4.8 assists while shooting 39.1% from three on 11.5 attempts per game.
With the updated 10+ day timetable, Curry will miss at least five games: vs. Minnesota, at New York, at Washington, at Boston, and at Detroit.
Once the 10 days are up, Golden State plays at Atlanta on Mar. 21 and at Dallas on Mar. 23 before returning home against Brooklyn and Washington on the 25th and 27th, respectively.
It would make sense for Curry to return at a home environment, and the games against the tanking Nets and Wizards wouldn't put too much pressure on Curry to perform at his best right away.
