The Chicago Fire FC have officially announced the arrival of Robert Lewandowski, one of the most dominant goal-scorers in recent European football history.
Lewandowski's arrival makes an instant impact on the Fire's MLS Cup chances, due to his long track record of scoring goals and winning trophies across Europe's top leagues. Throughout his decorated club career, Lewandowski has amassed an incredible 629 goals and 159 assists in 869 professional appearances across all competitions.
Lewandowski lands in Major League Soccer to join prolific Belgian forward Hugo Cuypers, and create one of the most threatening forward lines in the league. The Polish striker arrives from FC Barcelona as a Designated Player, signing a contract through the 2027/28 MLS season.
The 37-year-old is nearing the end of his career, but he will still be the main target man up front in Chicago. Cuypers leads all players in MLS with 13 goals so far this season, and will the presence of one of the greatest forwards of all-time will surely open up even more opportunities for him for the rest of the season.
Lewandowski is expected to make his debut on Wednesday night against the Lionel Messi-less Inter Miami, with the Argentine taking a short break after leading Argentina to the World Cup final just days ago.
