The Chicago Fire have completed a major summer signing, securing Polish international Robert Lewandowski.
In what is being hailed as the transfer coup of the summer, Chicago Fire FC has officially announced the arrival of Lewandowski. One of the most dominant goal-scorers in recent European football history, he now lands in Major League Soccer to lead the Chicago-based club's project.
The prolific striker arrives from FC Barcelona as a Designated Player, signing a contract through the 2027/28 MLS season.
The forward, who has been a leading figure in both the Bundesliga and La Liga for years, will occupy a Designated Player slot and an international roster spot.
Lewandowski joins on a free transfer after a successful spell at FC Barcelona. His illustrious career in Europe also includes dominant periods with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, following his initial rise in Poland with Lech Poznan and Znicz Pruszkow.
Lewandowski will make an instant impact on the Fire's MLS Cup chances with his ability to find the back of the net. He will join Belgian forward Hugo Cuypers, who has been scoring goals for Chicago similar to how Lewandowski did in his prime years at Bayern Munich.
