Boston Red Sox and Seattle Mariners wrap up a three-game series when they meet one more time in Seattle on Sunday afternoon.
Boston (31-43) is going for the sweep after taking the first two contests 6-2 and 5-1, but, despite those results, the Mariners (39-39) are still far ahead in the American League standings.
With Sunday's contest set for 4:10 pm ET, it's time to break down the matchup and discuss the best bets to make.
There is no denying that the Mariners have been mediocre at best this season, but they are an entirely different animal when Logan Gilbert takes the mound.
Seattle is 5-0 in Gilbert's last five starts and 8-2 in his last 10 and four of the five recent victories have come by multiple runs.
Part of the reason for Gilbert's success is that he has been getting plenty of run support. The M's have crossed the plate at least six times in three of his last four appearances.
Leading the way offensively of late has been Dominic Canzone.
The designated hitter went 4-for-7 with two home runs in the final two games in May and has not looked back in June, batting .360 with four homers, eight RBIs and nine runs so far this month.
Gilbert has been outstanding in his own right. The righty allowed just two runs on five hits in his last two starts spanning 13.0 innings.
He most recently faced Baltimore on Tuesday and recorded 10 strikeouts while issuing just one walk across 7.0 innings of work.
The Red Sox are countering with Payton Tolle, who has been solid this year (2.93 ERA, 1.06 WHIP). However, they have lost his last two starts and are 1-4 in his last five outings.
A total of 6.5 is what you sometimes see for matchups involving Tarik Skubal, Paul Skenes, Jacob Misiorowksi and other aces.
Tolle and Gilbert are no slouches, but they are not automatic gem-throwers every time they toe the rubber. As such, the over is appealing at a generous number.
Cal Raleigh's 2026 campaign has been a disaster, but Seattle's catcher is back after missing a month with an oblique problem and he is starting to show signs of life, with three hits and six walks in five games since returning.
Boston third baseman Caleb Durbin is on a heater during this season.
Through two games he is 5-for-8 with a homer, two RBIs and three runs scored, while outfielder Jarren Duran is 3-for-10 lifetime against Gilbert with a home run and a triple.
Julio Rodriguez exceeded this line in three straight games before going 0-for-3 on Saturday.
In the series opener, Seattle's all-star outfielder belted a two-run homer and Rodriguez should have a favorable matchup against the left-handed Tolle here.
