Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers are set for Game 1 of the NLCS on Sunday night at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Coming off back-to-back World Series titles, the Dodgers are in the NLCS for a third consecutive season, with Los Angeles having defeated Atlanta Braves 3-1 in the divisional round.
The Brewers are looking for revenge against the Dodgers, as Los Angeles swept Milwaukee 4-0 in last year’s NLCS, with the Brew Crew having advanced by taking down San Diego Padres 3-1 in the NLDS.
First pitch for Game 1 is slated for 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
The pitching matchup in Game 1 pits Los Angeles' Tarik Skubal against Milwaukee's Jacob Misiorowski - talk about must-see television.
Both starters have been spectacular all season long and both are capable of putting forth dominating performances.
However, a slight edge goes to Skubal and the Dodgers. He was dynamite in his first postseason outing, as he held the Braves to just one run on two hits over the course of 6.0 innings.
On the other side, Misiorowski struggled to put hitters away in his first postseason outing. He needed 88 pitches to get through 4.0 innings and allowed two runs on four hits.
While the Brewers still won that game against the Padres 3-2, Misiorowski's inefficiency led to his bullpen needing to cover 5.0 innings.
Things won't get any easier for Misiorowski in this one as he goes up against a loaded Dodgers lineup.
Skubal was also extremely comfortable on the road this season, as he posted a stellar 1.70 ERA to go along with a minuscule .170 BAA in 12 road starts.
The Dodgers are the team to back in Game 1.
The total for Game 1 is listed at six for a reason. The pitching matchup between Skubal and Misiorowski is about as good as it gets and both are capable of shutting down the opposition.
Skubal faced the Brewers back on August 16 and he allowed just a single earned run and struck out seven over 6.0 innings of work.
Milwaukee hit lefties at a .245 clip during the regular season, which ranked 13th in MLB. Skubal should be able to have a strong outing.
Misiorowski also found success in his most recent outing against the Dodgers. Back on August 15 he tossed 6.0 innings of one-run ball while striking out six at Dodger Stadium.
He's already riding high with plenty of confidence and has shown that he can handle Los Angeles' deep and experienced lineup.
Add in the fact that Milwaukee ranked 3rd in MLB with a bullpen ERA of 3.40 and Los Angeles ranked 9th with a 3.74 ERA during the regular season and runs could be at a premium in this one.
Even with the low total of 6.0, the under is the way to go.
