Nico Collins suffered a hamstring strain in practice on Wednesday and his status is listed as questionable.
The Houston Texans (0-1) will host the Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) in Week 2 of the NFL season, but DeMeco Ryans' team may be without their top wide receiver, Nico Collins.
Collins was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's practice on the Texans' official injury report, and the wide receiver met with team doctors to find out the extent of the injury. Initial reports are positive, but is availability to play on Sunday remains in jeopardy.
Collins was C.J. Stroud's top target in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, recording seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown in the opening game. The former Michigan Wolverine has been the Texans leading receiver for a few years now, and has tallied 1,000+ receiving yards in each of the last three seasons.
Houston is already without pass catchers Jayden Higgins (ACL) and Tank Dell (knee), so losing Collins for even one week could have a significant impact on the teams' offense.
Nico Collins is officially questionable against the Bengals on Sunday.
Reports are that Collins has a grade one hamstring strain, and was not present at the Texans' practice on Thursday. Missing practice on a Thursday is never a good sign for a players' availability on Sundays, though the Texans could be exercising extreme caution due to his long term importance to the team.
If Collins is not fit to play against the Bengals, Houston will need to rely on newly acquired Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, and Dalton Schultz in the passing game, while David Montgomery should expect heavy usage on the ground.
