Golden Knights vs. Ducks Game 6: Prediction & Best Bets

Vegas Golden Knights and Anaheim Ducks are set for Game 6 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Thursday night at Honda Center in Anaheim.

These teams have alternated wins so far in this series and the Golden Knights' 3-2 overtime win in Game 5 gives them a 3-2 lead heading into Game 6.

Needing just one more victory to close out the series, the Golden Knights are looking to advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time since they won the Stanley Cup in 2023.

On the other side, the Ducks are looking to force a Game 7 and keep their NHL postseason hopes alive.

Given the back-and-forth nature of this series, Game 6 is sure to be an entertaining contest to watch unfold and puck drop is slated for 9:10 p.m. ET.

Golden Knights vs. Ducks betting picks and predictions

Golden Knights ML (-110)

The postseason experience that the Golden Knights possess may be shining through at the most important time.

Vegas' 69 playoff wins since 2018 are the most in the NHL and they own a significant edge in postseason experience in this series against the Ducks. Anaheim has just six postseason wins since 2018 and they have all come this year.

Anaheim's style of play relies on speed and skill through the neutral zone and putting as many pucks on net as possible. That style has resulted in the Ducks out-shooting the Golden Knights 154-123 through five games.

However, it's the Golden Knights who own a 3-2 series lead and have out-scored the Ducks 16-12.

It's clear that Vegas is more methodical and looking for the best scoring chances, while Anaheim is relying on generating plenty of shooting volume. So far, Vegas' strategy has been superior.

The Golden Knights are also more structured defensively and they have done a great job of keeping the majority of Anaheim's shot attempts at a distance.

They have been stellar at staying in the shooting lanes and blocking shots, which has made life easier on goaltender Carter Hart.

He hasn't been other-worldly between the pipes, but he hasn't needed to be. Still, he owns a solid .912 save percentage and 2.49 goals-against average in the postseason.

Anaheim's Lukas Dostal has been a bit more unreliable, as he owns a save percentage of .878 to go along with a 3.36 goals-against average in the postseason.

In this series, Dostal has now allowed 3+ goals in three consecutive games, which puts a lot of pressure on Anaheim's forward group.

Vegas is the more well-rounded team right now, and their postseason experience is incredibly valuable in this matchup.

Look for the Golden Knights to close out the series with a Game 6 success.

Over 6.0 (-115)

It's clear that if the Ducks want to keep their postseason hopes alive, they need to light the lamp early and often.

Anaheim is not a strong defensive team and Vegas has taken advantage. The Golden Knights have scored 3+ goals in four of the five games in this series and, as previously mentioned, Dostal has not been sharp between the pipes.

With their backs against the wall, look for the Ducks to come out with a heightened sense of urgency in the offensive zone.

The Vegas power play has been reliable in this series, as the VGK have potted a goal on the man advantage in four straight games.

Anaheim is killing off opposing penalties at a lowly 70.4% clip, which is the third-worst mark among all playoff teams. If Vegas gets their fair share of power play chances, they should be able to keep the momentum going.

It's also worth mentioning that while the over is just 2-3 in this series, both times the over cashed came in Anaheim. Games 3 and 4 at Honda Center featured eight and seven goals respectively, and I expect that trend to continue in this one.

With a total of 6.0, the over is the play.
