Mariners vs. Yankees: Prediction, Props & Best Bets (8/11)

Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees are set for a Tuesday night matchup at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

New York currently sits in the first wild card spot in the American League wild card standings and, with an overall record of 66-52, the Yankees own a comfortable six-game lead in that spot.

The Mariners enter this contest with an overall record of 56-63. Despite being seven games under the .500-mark, Seattle is still vying for a playoff spot in a wild open race for the second AL wild card spot.

The Mariners are four games back of a playoff spot and have a great opportunity to make a statement in this series against the Yankees.

First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. ET on TBS.

Seattle Mariners vs. New York Yankees betting picks and predictions

Yankees ML (-127)

The Mariners enter this contest on a cold streak, having dropped four games in a row and five of their last six.

After a nine-game home stand, the Mariners will be playing this contest on the road, where they are a measly 23-34 on the season. For comparison, they are a strong 33-29 when playing at home.

Seattle will hand the ball to right-hander Bryan Woo. Like the Mariners as a whole, Woo has struggled away from Seattle. The 26-year-old owns an impressive 1.96 ERA and .164 BAA through 10 home starts.

However, his ERA jumps all the way up to 6.71 when pitching on the road. Furthermore, his BAA goes up to .300 away from the comfort of T-Mobile Park.

On the other side, New York will send Ryan Weathers to the mound and the veteran left-hander is in a major groove right now.

Over his last three starts Weathers has allowed just a single earned run on 13 hits over the course of 18.2 innings of work. He also has 17 strikeouts with just five walks in that span.

The Yankees are 4-2 over Weathers' last six starts and he is set to face a Mariners team that has struggled to score runs on a consistent basis this season.

Seattle has especially struggled in August, ranking dead last in MLB with just 19 total runs through eight games so far this month.

Playing at home, Weathers and the Yankees seem to be in an ideal spot in this one. New York is the team to back on the moneyline.

Under 8.5 (-125)

As previously mentioned, no team in baseball has scored fewer runs this month than the Mariners. That makes it tough to trust them to put forth a strong showing on the road against a pitcher in such a groove.

In addition, Seattle hasn't found much success against left-handed pitching this season.

Specifically, the Mariners rank 29th in MLB with a team OPS of .648 when facing lefties. With that in mind, Weathers should be able to hold the Mariners to a low scoring total.

Once the starters are out of this game, both bullpens should be able to hold things down as well.

The Yankees have one of the better bullpens in the league, ranking 2nd in all of baseball with a 3.13 bullpen ERA. Seattle isn't far behind ranking 9th with a 3.78 bullpen ERA.

Furthermore, both teams enjoyed an off day on Monday, meaning the bullpen arms will be fresh on both sides, sol ook for each manager to use the bullpens effectively in this one.

With a total of 8.5, the under is the play.
