Miami Heat Odds to Win NBA Championship After Trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo + Current Roster & Draft Picks

Last night, the Giannis Antetokounmpo saga finally came to an end.

The future Hall-of-Famer, along with forward Bobby Portis, were dealt to the Miami Heat for a package that includes Tyler Herro, Jamie Jaquez Jr., Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, and three first-round picks, including No. 13 in the draft tonight.

Giannis had been in trade rumors for years, and his love for the Bucks organization felt like it started to falter ever since the team fell to his future team, the No. 8-seeded Heat, in the first round in 2023.

Since then, the likes of Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, and the rest of the team started to age and fall apart. Milwaukee tried their best to keep their 2x MVP happy by trading for Damian Lillard after the 2023 exit and signing Myles Turner last offseason, but unfortunately for their front office, their moves didn't culminate into anything special. An Achilles tear to Lillard in the first round of the 2025 playoffs led to an early exit - and subsequently waived - and disappointing play by Turner and the team in 2026, along with Giannis playing in just 36 games, led to a 32-50 record.

So, with not much talent surrounding Antetokounmpo on the current roster, Milwaukee felt it was finally time to move on. Giannis will be remembered as a legend in Milwaukee where he averaged 24.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game in 895 career games after being drafted as a skinny prospect from Greece in 2013.

According to reports, the Bucks were weighing two different offers from Eastern Conference foes - the Heat and the Boston Celtics. Boston offered a package surrounding Jaylen Brown, but Miami's surplus of draft picks and young talent won the race for Giannis. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Golden State Warriors have also been linked to Giannis since the in-season trade deadline.

Now, the Greek Freak will pair up with 3x All-Star Bam Adebayo and 2026 All-Star Norman Powell to form a Big-3 of sorts. There's certainly holes on the roster - Davion Mitchell may be the only trustworthy ball-handling guard - and it'll be interesting to see how Pat Riley and the front office build around their newly acquired superstar.

First-Round Draft Picks Thru 2033

  • 2027 Top-14 Protected Pick (if pick falls between 15-30, it goes to CHA)

  • 2029 own pick

  • 2030 pick-swap with MIL

  • 2032 own pick

Miami's 2028 first-round pick was traded to the Charlotte Hornets as part of the Terry Rozier trade, and their 2031 and 2033 picks were traded to Milwaukee for Antetokounmpo.

Between Adebayo, Antetokounmpo, Powell, Wiggins, Larsson, and Jovic, the roster has a surplus of lengthy wings and defenders. They may move more players this offseason to add to their guard rotation, and surely the team will makes moves during the season once they figure out their needs.
