2026/27 NBA Championship Futures

The New York Knicks clinched the NBA Finals in Game 5 against the Spurs, winning the city's first NBA Championship in 53 years.

The Knicks dominated a young San Antonio Spurs team that previously dispatched the 2024/25 Champions in the Western Conference Final - the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Jalen Brunson dominated the series all the way through, scoring 163 points (32.6 per game) on the way to winning the NBA Finals MVP award, and cementing himself as one of the greatest New York Knicks players of all-time.

Brunson will be already be considered as a hero in the city of New York, but if he can manage to secure back-to-back NBA Finals victories, he may be considered closer as a deity of NYC.

The Spurs and Thunder are tied in the odds to win next years NBA Championship, with both teams have incredible young cores that should expect to win multiple championships in the next few years.

Both teams also have perennial MVP candidates in Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander that can single handedly carry their teams late in the playoffs.

The Boston Celtics are in a similar position with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but the question for Boston is who else on the team is going to be a major contributor on a Championship winning team. Boston has the shortest odds the win the 2026/27 NBA Finals in the Eastern Conference.

The Miami Heat jumped up significantly (from +4000 to +2500) after trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo. They've formed a trio of All-Stars between Bam Adebayo, Norman Powell, and Giannis, though ball-handling depth remains a question mark heading into the season.

The Knicks find themselves sitting fourth in the odds, and fans would expect them to be higher after easily handing the Spurs. New York has a great roster situation, with all of their best players still under contract for next season.

The Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors are also possible candidates from the East. Detroit will be year older, and will likely make some minor moves this offseason to improve spacing issues that they suffered from this past season.

The Raptors reacquired Kawhi Leonard via trade, and will have a terrifying defensive frontcourt with Scottie Barnes and Collin Murray-Boyles still on the team.

Indiana will also be back after taking a "gap year" while Tyrese Haliburton was rehabbing from his Achilles surgery. Haliburton will pair with center Ivica Zubac who the Pacers acquired from the LA Clippers midseason.
