Mexico vs. South Korea Odds, Picks & Predictions

World Cup co-hosts Mexico take on South Korea in Zapopan on Thursday knowing a win would put them in the driving seat to secure top spot in Group A.

El Tri opened the World Cup with a convincing 2-0 win over South Africa, a match which also included three red cards (one for Mexico, two for South Africa).

Mexico now face a South Korea side who also earned three points in their first game of the tournament, coming from behind to beat the Czech Republic 2-1.

Mexico vs South Korea betting picks and predictions

Mexico to win (-105)

Barring the red card for Cesar Montes, Mexico’s World Cup opener went extremely smoothly and confidence is high heading into this clash against South Korea.

The victory over South Africa was the fourth in a row for El Tri, who also extended their unbeaten streak to nine fixtures.

South Korea will be no pushovers, though, as the determination they showed to come from 1-0 down to beat the Czech Republic 2-1 cannot be ignored.

These two nations played out a 2-2 draw in a friendly back in September, so Mexico knows the quality the Taegeuk Warriors possess.

But a vociferous home crowd at the Estadio Akron in Zapopan could play a huge part in this encounter and help provide that extra edge to get Mexico the win.

Both teams to score (+105)

Mexico showed their attacking quality with two goals in their opener, while the same can be said for South Korea who also bagged twice against the Czechs.

El Tri have failed to find the back of the net in just one of their last 10 matches and they will feel confident of notching against a Korea defence that looked fragile at times in their opening game.

South Korea will also feel confident of getting on the scoresheet, something they have achieved in six of their last eight assignments.

The Taegeuk Warriors have netted two or more times in four of those games and it would be a surprise should the net not ripple at both ends.

Raul Jimenez anytime goalscorer (+163)

Mexico forward Raul Jimenez will have been on cloud nine after scoring his first World Cup goal in front of thousands of compatriots in Mexico City.

The striker, who rejoined Wolves from Fulham days before the tournament kicked off, netted nine goals for the Cottagers in the Premier League in the 2025/26 season.

Now aged 35, Jimenez is hugely experienced and knows the exact positions to take up to do damage to the South Korea defence.

If Mexico can provide Jimenez with good service, then he looks like a solid pick to add to his World Cup tally.
