Kayshon Boutte is the subject of ongoing trade rumors, and could find himself on a new team before the season begins.
The New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte requested a trade earlier in the offseason, but no deal has been reached for the 24-year-old pass catcher.
Boutte was a reliable target for Patriots quarterback Drake Maye last season, catching 33 passes for 551 yards and six touchdowns. Boutte also had 168 yards and a touchdown in the postseason to help New England reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the Tom Brady era.
Boutte is a physical wide receiver who excels at fighting through contact on contested catches. Listed at 5' 11", he is a threat on deep balls and has great hands, making him capable of playing in the slot. He is under contract through 2026 and is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season.

The Patriots are likely to trade Boutte after acquiring A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs this offseason. After spending 2025 as one of the top receivers on the team, Boutte is now competing with DeMario "Pop" Douglas, Mack Hollins, and Kyle Williams for the third receiver spot on the depth chart.
Boutte was held out of the Patriots' most recent preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, likely to keep him healthy for a potential trade.

Possible Trade Suitors for Kayshon Boutte
Some teams that could be interested in acquiring Kayshon Boutte are the Houston Texans, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks.
Houston has a deep wide receiver room, but they are also dealing with multiple injuries at the position. Jayden Higgins will miss the entire 2026 season with an ACL injury, Tank Dell is still recovering from a major knee injury that saw him miss the entire 2025 season, and Jaylin Noel has also been dealing with a minor hamstring injury. Houston signed Sterling Shepard and Zay Jones to bolster the position, but they could still add the much younger Boutte to work alongside Nico Collins.
The 49ers have been plagued by injuries during the preseason, with Ricky Pearsall out for the season, and Mike Evans, Christian Kirk, and rookie De'Zhaun Stribling all getting banged up to start the year. Outside of Stribling, the Niners' wide receivers are all aging out of their prime, and Boutte could be the injection of youth the team needs.
The Seahawks are coming off a Super Bowl victory over Boutte's Patriots, but that doesn't make a move out of the question. Outside of Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle's top pass catchers are Rashid Shaheed, who's primarily a punt returner, and 33-year-old Cooper Kupp. Boutte would be a major upgrade for Sam Darnold, and could help the team push for another Super Bowl.
Other teams that could add another wide receiver for 2026 include the Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and New York Giants.
