Sam Darnold was selected by the New York Jets in the 2018 NFL Draft.
In three seasons in New York, the former USC QB threw 39 interceptions in just 38 games. Darnold was an immediate bust with the Jets, and was then traded to the Carolina Panthers.
Darnold played 18 games across two seasons with Carolina, and continued to throw too many interceptions. Darnold then bounced to San Francisco in 2023 where he played as a backup before signing a one year deal with the Minnesota Vikings.
In just one season in Minnesota, Darnold shattered his career highs with 4,319 yards, 35 touchdowns. He also only threw 12 interceptions and was named as a finalist for the 2024 Comeback player of the Year award.
Instead of resigning Darnold, the Vikings opted to bet on their 2024 first round pick J.J. McCarthy at QB, opening the door for the Seattle Seahawks to sign Darnold to a bargain deal.
In his first year with the Seahawks, Darnold led the team to it's first Super Bowl victory since 2014. He has continued to develop into the player that he was expected to be coming out of college in 2018.
