Ja Morant Next Team Odds

Ja Morant's name has been flying around the trade rumor mill and bet365 has the odds for his next potential team.

Last updated: Jan. 12.

A player who was once looked at as one of the future faces of the league has made some poor choices in his career to go along with a large string of injuries. On top of that, recent postgame interviews have clearly demonstrated that he does not seem to get along with newly appointed head coach Tuomas Iisalo.

For a Memphis Grizzlies team that is 17-22 and not talented enough to make a serious playoff push, now may be the best time to trade Morant.

The former second overall pick is having his worst season of his career, averaging 19.0 points per game while shooting just 40.1% from the field and 20.8% from three in 18 games played.

His best season came in 2021-22 when he averaged 27.4 points while shooting 49.3% from the field, winning Most Improved Player and finishing 7th in the MVP race.

The 26-year-old Morant is currently in the middle of his 5 year, $197 million contract extension that he signed before the 2023-24 season. After this season, he'll be on the book for two more years and is set to make over $40 million per year before becoming a free agent after the 2027-28 season.

He still has the athleticism, playmaking, and potential that can make him enticing for plenty of teams. Here's a look at the favorites to land Morant before February 5th's trade deadline, with odds provided by bet365:

The Grizzlies are +225 favorites to keep Morant through the deadline. On Jan. 9, Shams Charania reported that Memphis is "actively taking trade offers" for Morant.

The Milwaukee Bucks (+350) are trying to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo in a cream uniform and a splash trade for Morant may extend Antetokounmpo's time.

The struggling Sacramento Kings (+450) are third on the list. They've made it known that pretty much everyone on the roster is available for trade and they could perhaps swap stars such as Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, or Domantas Sabonis for Morant.

The point guard-needy Wolves come in at +850. Minnesota doesn't have a reliable ball-handler outside of Anthony Edwards and Mike Conley and could look to pair Edwards and Morant together to form an elite slashing duo. However, outside of the established Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid, the Wolves' young players haven't shown much to become long-term replacements for Memphis.

The Miami Heat (+1000) are the last remaining team with odds +1000 or shorter. Miami needs a long-term point guard to complement their scorers. A couple of Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Nikola Jovic, Kel'el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis, or Pelle Larsson could be enticing for the Grizzlies.

The Raptors (+1200) have overperformed expectations and could capitalize on it by trading for a talented point guard. Current point guard Immanuel Quickley and more could be sent over to Memphis for Morant.

The Nets (+1600) could swap trade candidate Michael Porter Jr. for Morant, while the Mavericks (+1600), Hornets (+2000), and Pelicans (+2000) all round out the top ten favorites.
