Two undefeated Big Ten teams with elite defenses will go head-to-head on Saturday afternoon in what projects to be a low-scoring contest.
Michigan's undefeated record does not come without an asterisk after a controversial last-second win over Western Michigan in the opening game. The Wolverines bounced back with a 17-10 win over Oklahoma in Week 2, before the offense finally got going in a 52-17 win over UTEP.
Quarterback Bryce Underwood has gradually improved over the course of the three games, but it's the running game that really came alive against UTEP. Savion Hiter and Jordan Marshall combined for 121 yards and three touchdowns on 23 carries last week, and will be looking to help Underwood move the ball down the field against an Iowa team that has kept two shutouts in their first three games.
The Hawkeyes have talent in every defensive position, highlighted by linebacker Cam Buffington and defensive back Zach Lutmer.
Offensively, Iowa also relies heavily on their running backs. Three players already have over 120 yards and a touchdown this season. Michigan's defense will focus on stopping the run and will force quarterback Hank Brown to try and beat them through the air.
This game will likely be won or lost in the trenches on Saturday.
