Colombia vs. Ghana Picks & Predictions

Colombia have impressed in the World Cup this summer and the South Americans shouldn't have too many problems against Ghana in the last 32.

After easily overcoming Uzbekistan, Los Cafeteros edged out DR Congo 1-0 in their second Group K game before finishing off with a 0-0 draw with Portugal.

Ghana have made the last-32 thanks to a very late win over Panama and a great defensive shutout against England but the Black Stars may find themselves out of their depth now.

Colombia vs. Ghana betting picks and predictions

Colombia to win to nil (+110)

Colombia are clearly the stronger of these two sides, sitting 11th in FIFA's rankings compared to the African nation, who are down in 65th place.

Nestor Lorenzo's men should demonstrate their superiority with a comfortable win to nil in Kansas City.

They have been the better side in all three of their group games, winning the shot count in victories over Uzbekistan and DR Congo and also when also holding a strong Portugal 0-0.

Colombia's first-choice XI is solid throughout, with Crystal Palace pair Daniel Munoz and Jefferson Lerma, plus the experienced James Rodriguez, Palmeiras’s Jhon Arias, Sporting striker Luis Suarez and Bayern Munich winger Luis Diaz all to call upon.

Ghana do have some quality, especially with Manchester City star Antoine Semenyo and Athletic Club’s Inaki Williams, but overall Colombia should overpower them.

It may well end up being a close-run thing, but expect Colombia, who have only conceded one goal in the tournament so far, to progress with a clean sheet again.

Under 2.5 goals (-150)

While Colombia are tipped to prevail, it may not be an entertaining watch in Kansas City as the round of 32 wraps up.

Aside from their 3-1 opening win over a very weak Uzbekistan, Colombia have otherwise been tight and pragmatic. They should eventually have too much for Ghana but it is difficult to see Lorenzo's men fully cutting loose and firing in several goals.

Four of the six games these two nations have played in the tournament have ended with fewer than three goals being scored and that pattern is hard to ignore.

Ghana are keen to utilise their defensive strength to nullify teams, further adding to the feeling that this will be a low-scoring affair.

Luis Diaz to have 2 or more shots on target (+175)

One man Los Cafeteros can usually rely on is Diaz, who has continued his fine club form for Bayern into the World Cup.

The former Liverpool star scored and assisted in the win over Uzbekistan and, in total, has had 11 shots in three appearances.

Three have been on target and it is entirely possible Diaz will now raise his level even higher now the knockout rounds are here.

Therefore, backing Diaz to have two or more shots on target in Kansas appeals.
