The USMNT were on fire in their 4-1 victory against Paraguay in the first match of the group stage round in Group D. Christian Pulisic and the squad will look to tack on another victory against Australia tomorrow, Friday, June 19.
Folarin Bolagun scored two world-class goals, while Damian Bodadilla and Gio Reyna added goals of their own. One of the United States' top forwards - Christian Pulisic - played a massive part in the first two goals scored, including notching an assist, but the AC Milan man suffered an injury as well.
Pulisic has remained "day-to-day" ever since exiting at halftime in the match against Paraguay last Friday. He's nursing a calf injury that he said he got from a "bit of a kick in the first half."
However, manager Mauricio Pochettino, Pulisic, and his teammates, have all been confident that their striker will play against Australia. There has been some discussion about whether or not it's worth testing his calf after already picking up a big win in the group stage round, and he hasn't yet been officially cleared, so time will tell if Pulisic is good to go.
The Stars and Stripes are looking to win two World Cup games for the first time since 2002, but the Aussies will be a tough out.
The Socceroos notched a 2-0 upset victory over Turkiye in their first group stage match despite having just 28% possession and losing the shot count 30-9.
The U.S. beat Australia 2-1 in a friendly in October and have won four of their seven games since. They square off again at the Seattle Stadium, kicking off at 3:00 PM ET / 12:00 PM PT.
