Canada come into this fixture off the back of a tight 1–0 victory against Chile last weekend, thanks to an early goal from Jonathan David. Canada's defense is currently stretched due to injuries to Moise Bombito, Derek Cornelius, Alfie Jones, and Alistair Johnston. However, Luc De Fougerolles has been excellent in their absence, and Ralph Priso-Mbonge also stepped up in the heart of the defense against Chile.
Peru's last match ended in a 1–1 draw against Mexico. Jairo Velez scored the opening goal before Victor Guzman equalised just after half-time.
Canada and Peru have faced each other three times since 1988. Canada have won twice, including a recent 1–0 victory against the South American side at the 2024 Copa América.
