David was born in New York City, but he immigrated to Ottawa, Canada when he was six years old.

David made his senior debut for the Canada men's national team in September 2018, quickly establishing himself as a top attacker. He has since become Canada's all-time leading goalscorer, a remarkable achievement for a player of his age.
David was a key member of the squad that qualified for and participated in the 2022 World Cup, which was a historic return for Canadian soccer on the global stage (first qualification since 1986). He has also represented Canada in multiple CONCACAF Gold Cups and the Copa America, consistently contributing goals.

David began his professional career with the Belgian KAA Gent in 2018 where he quickly made a name for himself. In his second season, he led the Belgian Pro League in scoring with 18 goals, earning him the league's Golden Boot.
The led to a 30 million Euro transfer to French club LOSC Lille in 2020, making him one of the most expensive Canadian transfers of all-time.
With Lille, David helped them win the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21 and became the club's third all-time top goalscorer.
He moved to Juventus in 2025 and has continued to be a terrific attacking presence, scoring goals and recording assists in the competitive Serie A.
