A coveted spot in the Copa Argentina semi-finals is on the line as Club Atlético Platense take on Estudiantes de La Plata, with Atlético Tucumán already lying in wait for the victor.
This quarter-final clash adds another chapter to a historic rivalry spanning 125 meetings, where Estudiantes hold the upper hand with 59 victories compared to Platense's 35, alongside 31 draws.
Match Preview
Martín Palermo’s Platense side have reached the final eight of the competition for the first time in club history. El Calamar secured their historic berth following a tense 1-1 draw against Instituto, prevailing in the penalty shootout courtesy of goalkeeper Juan Pablo Cozzani, who produced three crucial saves to deny Diego Sosa, Facundo Suárez, and Jonás Acevedo.
Meanwhile, Estudiantes advanced to the quarter-finals after a comfortable 3-1 win over Barracas Central, powered by a Kevin Jappert own goal alongside strikes from Baltasar Rodríguez and Guido Carrillo. Alexander Medina’s men are currently balancing multiple fronts, competing in the Copa Libertadores while looking to bounce back from a recent 3-1 defeat against Rosario Central in the Supercopa Internacional. Estudiantes previously lifted the trophy in the tournament's 11th edition after overcoming Defensa y Justicia in the final.
