The 30th annual WNBA season tips off tonight, but the game to watch will be played on Saturday.
Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever open their season against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. EST from Indianapolis.
Clark is looking to bounce back from an injury-riddled sophomore season that saw her play just 13 games and miss the entire playoffs.
In those 13 games, Clark averaged 16.5 points and 8.8 assists per game while shooting 36.7% from the field and 27.9% from three - all downticks from her rookie year, except for a slight increase in assists.
The Fever still improved as a team, however, and they're one of the title favorites coming into this season.
Last year, they went 24-20, four wins better than Clark's rookie 2024 season, and made it to the WNBA Semifinals where they lost in a overtime do-or-die Game 5 against the eventual champion Las Vegas Aces.
On the other side, the Wings are on their third head coach in three years, and Jose Fernandez will look to lead them to a winning record for the first time since 2023.
The Wings picked Bueckers' college teammate Azzi Fudd with the No. 1 overall pick and still have Arike Ogunbowale on the roster, so there's a lot of excitement surrounding the Wings this year.
Bueckers had a phenomenal rookie season, taking home the Rookie of the Year award and finishing on the All-WNBA 2nd Team.
Bueckers averaged 19.2 points and 5.4 assists in her inaugural WNBA season, shooting 47.5% from the field and 33.1% from three.
