Dallas Wings star rookie Azzi Fudd will miss the rest of the WNBA season after she plans to undergo a procedure on her injured right knee early next week,
Fudd hasn't played since August 5th and the Wings have lost four of their last five games without her. Dallas (20-16) still sits comfortably as the No. 8 seed - the final seed to qualify for the playoffs - holding a 4.5 game lead over the 15-20 Portland Fire.
The No. 1 overall pick in 2026 was a revelation for a Wings team that went 10-34 in 2025. She averaged 13.1 points, 1.8 assists, and 1.7 steals per game, leading the Wings with a plus-13.1 net rating, according to ESPN. Fudd also ranks No. 1 in made three-pointers by rookies and became the first rookie in WNBA history to win the three-point contest.
Her upcoming procedure could be concerning considering that she has torn her right ACL and right meniscus twice in her career already - once in 2019 and again in 2023. While this year's injury doesn't seem to be on the level as something as serious as a torn ACL, it's certainly not what Dallas wanted to have happen in her first year.
