Karl Smesko is the head coach of the Atlanta Dream, he previously served as the head coach of the Florida Gulf Coast women's basketball team from 2002 to 2024.
In Smesko's second season with the Atlanta Dream and only one game left in the 2026 regular season, they hold a 29-14 record. The team clinched their fourth consecutive postseason appearance and 12th in franchise history.

Atlanta Dream WNBA Championship History
The Atlanta Dream has never won a WNBA championship. The Dream was founded as an expansion team in 2008 and has reached the WNBA Finals three times (2010, 2011, 2013).
The Dream's first Finals appearance in 2010, ended with a 3-0 sweep by the Seattle Storm. They also lost 3-0 to the Minnesota Lynx in both 2011 and 2013.
