2026 NBA Draft First Overall Pick Odds Post-Lottery, Dybansta Favored

The 2026 NBA Draft has the chance to be historically special, we'll examine three potential number one picks based on odds from bet365.

For the first time since 2010 when they selected John Wall, the Washington Wizards won the lottery and received the No. 1 overall pick for the draft in June.

The Wizards (who went 17-65 last year) had the same odds as the Indiana Pacers and Brooklyn Nets to receive the first pick. While Washington's front office experienced joy, it was dismay for the Pacers and Nets - the former lost its top-four protected pick after it fell to No. 5 and was traded to the L.A. Clippers as part of the in-season Ivica Zubac trade receive it, and the latter fell all the way down to No. 6.

With Sunday's lottery being the last before the NBA's new anti-tanking rules go into effect last year, it was a huge deal for a Washington team that has been losing games on purpose for three years in a row.

They picked Alex Sarr No. 2 overall in 2023 and Tre Johnson No. 6 overall last year, with both showing some flashes of being future stars in the league. With veterans Trae Young and Anthony Davis on the roster and ready to compete, Washington is hoping to add a pro-ready superstar to the team in this year's draft.

The Wizards will have their choice between AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, and more. Here's a look at the odds to go No. 1 overall in June's NBA Draft.

Jump Ahead:

AJ Dybantsa (-450)

Team: BYU
Class: Freshman
Position: Wing
Height: 6' 9"

AJ Dybantsa is a bulldog on the basketball court, and carries himself as the best player on the court, no matter his opponent. With that said, he is also unselfish and willing and capable defender who will do whatever is asked from him to win.

At 6'9", Dybantsa's balance and ability to change pace resembles the NBA's reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. The think that makes him different is the joy he gets from dunking on opposing defenders.

Dybantsa has all the tools needed to contribute immediately in the NBA, including his ability to go both left and right off the dribble, post-up, and shoot from behind the arc.

Dybantsa has played all 28 of BYU's games this season, and has averaged 25.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting 53.2% from the floor, and 36.8% from downtown.

Darryn Peterson (+300)

Team: Kansas
Class: Freshman
Position: Guard
Height: 6' 5"

Darryn Peterson entered his freshman season at Kansas as the second favorite to be the No. 1 overall pick in 2026, but due to injury issues and inconsistency on the court, AJ Dybantsa and Cameron Boozer have played their way into contention.

Peterson is an electric scoring, capable of scoring in flurries. In 17 games played at Kansas so far this season, Peterson has averaged 19,5 points per game on 40.5% shooting from behind the arc, and 47.2% from the field.

The Kansas guard has the potential to score as well as the late-great Kobe Bryant in NBA, but scout are skeptical about whether he'll be able to stay on the floor after missing eight of Kansas' games.

Cameron Boozer (+1800)

Team: Kansas
Class: Freshman
Position: Forward
Height: 6' 9"

Cam Boozer, the son of former NBA player Carlos Boozer has the third best odds to be selected first overall but is nearly lock to be selected in the top-three picks.

Boozer is a modern big man who has a soft touch around the rim, can stretch the floor, and is a very underrated passer. He possesses a winning mentality that is willing to do some dirty work rather than needing to be the focal point of the team.

With that said, Boozer is leading his Duke team in points, rebounds, and assists per game. He is averaging 22.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists while shooting 58.3% from the floor.

Boozer projects to be an immediate contributor and floor raiser for whatever team selects him in the draft. His game resembles that of Kevin Love's, Rarely the best scorer on a team, but a high level contributor that can do a lot of winning things on the basketball court.

Rest of the Field

Darius Acuff Jr., Caleb Wilson, Kingston Flemings, and Keaton Wagler have the next best odds to be selected first overall in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Wilson is an excellent scoring big man, but his inability to stretch the floor hurts his abilities to be the first pick in the draft. Wilson is rising in the odds as teams look through more tape, and looks to be a possibly star in the NBA.

Acuff is arguably the best scorer in this class, particularly at the point guard position.

Kingston Flemings is a high level orchestrator from the point guard position, while also being able to get his own buckets when required. Flemings is also one of the best defensive prospects at the guard position in this draft.

Keaton Wagler is a microwave offensive scorer, capable of getting hot in a hurry. Wagler can do a little bit of everything but not at the same level of the Peterson, Dybantsa, and Boozer.
