Discover the previous winners of the WTA Finals since its inception in 1972.
Martina Navratilova is the most successful player in WTA Finals history with eight titles which she achieved from 1978 to 1986. The 18-time Grand Slam champion was also a finalist on six other occasions, and Navratilova also holds the record for most doubles titles in the competition with 13.
Joint-second on the all-time list is Steffi Graf and Serena Williams, who have both achieved five WTA Finals titles in their career. Williams achieved three successive triumphs from 2012 to 2014.
Chris Evert was the first winner of the competition and won a total of four WTA Finals in her career.
Monica Seles and Kim Clijsters are both three-time champions of the event, while Evonne Goolagong Cawley, Gabriela Sabatini, Martina Hingis and Justine Henin are the only other individuals to win the WTA Finals title more than once.
In a demonstration of the WTA circuit's competitiveness, the previous ten editions of the WTA Finals have all been won by first-time winners, with Serena Williams the last individual to successfully defend her crown in 2014.
