We saw a colossal upset on the opening night as title-holder Luke Littler was sent crashing out by Luke Woodhouse.
The format of this unique event always lends itself to shocks and surprises but I must admit, I never saw that one coming.
I opted against including a selection from that match in my acca given how short the Nuke's odds were to win the game, and whilst three of my four predictions did come in, Wessel Nijman beating Rob Cross thwarted my opening night acca from landing.
We go again tonight with four more selections though; and I have a positive feeling about each of my picks.
First up, I am taking Chris Dobey to see-off Jermaine Wattimena -- I just think he is a lot less erratic, he plays with a far greater consistency and that is going to be important, especially when it comes to getting off on the doubles.
I have also included Ryan Searle to beat William O'Connor. William is a very solid and deliberate player but he can come a cropper on those doubles.
If Ryan can hit double tops like we all know he can -- which I feel he will -- then he is just going to get off quicker than his opponent, which will be the determining factor in this match.
Another player I am expecting to see advance to the second round this evening is James Wade.
In Joe Cullen, he is taking on a player who possesses a superb a-game but he hasn't been at that level for some time now, whereas James enters the tournament absolutely brimming with confidence.
He has won on the World Series recently and also captured another European Tour title; not just that, his game also suits this competition as well as anybody, and I just don't see him being beaten here.
Finally, I have included Luke Humphries to overcome Dave Chisnall.
Chizzy hasn't quite been at the top of his game for some time now, and whilst he can be a top, top player when he is right at it, I just don't see him bridging the gap between himself and the former World Darts Championship winner.
Luke has been a little bit rusty recently, he will admit that, but he is still averaging well into the high 90s and he will be sharpening up big time now as the season edges towards its boiling point.
