Egypt have beaten Australia on penalties to make history in Dallas and reach the last 16 of the World Cup.
Egypt took an early lead as Emam Ashour headed home at the back post after just 13 minutes, but defender Mohamed Hany scored his second own goal of the tournament to level matters nine minutes into the second half.
Both sides had chances to win the tie in both normal time and extra-time as they aimed to reach the last 16 of a World Cup for the very first time, but neither side could find the winner and we went to a third penalty shootout of tournament.
In an incredible turn of events, Australia goalkeeper Mat Ryan was brought on for the penalty shootout in the 119th minute, four years after being replaced by goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne as he became the hero to guide the Socceroos to the World Cup back in 2022.
The former Brighton shot stopper replaced Patrick Beach, who had himself enjoyed a superb game and made a number of saves to keep his country in the tie.
Unfortunately for manager Tony Popovic, the gamble didn't pay off as Egypt scored all four of their spot kicks and misses for Harry Souttar and Lucas Herrington saw Egypt make it through to play either Argentina or Cape Verde.
