World Cup 2026 Most Assists Odds: Bruno Fernandes favourite

Bruno Fernandes is 10/1 to provide the most assists at the 2026 World Cup.

Coming off the back of a record-breaking season with Manchester United, in which the Portuguese provided 21 assists, eclipsing the 20 achieved by Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry, lots of eyes will be on the 31-year-old heading into the World Cup.

Fernandes provided both assists in Portugal’s 2-0 win over the USA in March, but hadn’t notched an assist in his previous 12 games for the national side.

The expanded 48-team World Cup will give plenty of players chances to fill their boots in the group stage, and perhaps none more so than Portugal, who face DR Congo in their opener before taking on Uzbekistan six days later.

Of course, lots of other countries are in the same boat, with England facing Panama, Brazil facing Haiti, Germany facing Curacao, Spain facing Cape Verde, France facing Iraq and Argentina facing Jordan, making it a wide-open betting heat.

It’s worth keeping in mind that there’s often multiple players with the same number of assists in a World Cup, with five players laying on three each in 2022 – Lionel Messi, Ivan Perisic, Antoine Griezmann, Harry Kane and Fernandes – and a remarkable 19 recorded two each in 2018.

Toni Kroos and Juan Cuadrado laid on four each in 2014, with Bastian Schweinsteiger leading the way with four in 2010.
