Take a look at the odds to be top goalscorer at the 2026 World Cup.
Even with an expanded 48-team, eight-game World Cup, it's unlikely Just Fontaine's record of 13 in a single tournament will ever be beaten, but Kylian Mbappe may have his sights set on becoming only the fourth man to hit double figures after his eight-goal haul in 2022.
Mbappe was on five heading into the final before his hat-trick saw him move one clear of Lionel Messi, who himself bagged a brace on the night.
Eight is a figure that was last beaten by the great Gerd Muller in 1970, when he scored nine for West Germany, but with one more game as well as a host of relative minnows added to the showpiece, it's a tally that may be eclipsed.
Owing to the expanded tournament, the group stages could be a deciding factor in the race for the top goalscrer, with most of the tournament's big hitters playing at least one weaker opponent, giving them the chance to fill their boots.
France, for example, play Iraq in their second group game; Portugal open with games against DR Congo and Uzbekistan; Germany kicked off against Curacao, where Kai Havertz fired a brace in a 7-1 win; Spain face Cape Verde and England finish against Panama.
bet365's Steve Freeth said: "He won the battle with Messi in Qatar and our customers are sticking with Kylian Mbappe to land back-to-back Golden Boots.
"15 out of our 20 biggest wagers on the market have been placed on the Frenchman, while the five others are for Kai Havertz, Harry Kane and three on Erling Haaland."
Odds will display when market is available. Market settled on who scores the most goals at the 2026 World Cup. Dead heat rules apply. Penalty shoot-outs do not count.
Mbappe is the understandable favourite given his prowess in front of goal for Les Bleus, winning Golden Boot four years ago. Harry Kane, Golden Boot winner in 2018, has been in the form of his life for Bayern Munich and looks primed for a big tournament for the Three Lions.
Lionel Messi is third favourite after netting seven times for Argentina four years ago, while Erling Haaland spearheads a strong Norway outfit and is fourth favourite in the betting.
