Wolves defenders Kieran Trippier and Yerson Mosquera are both set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining injuries in the club's Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers.
Trippier, who was replaced by Jackson Tchatchoua in the 68th minute of the game, and Mosquera, who lasted the full 90 minutes despite picking up a late injury, are both set to miss between four to six weeks.
It is a huge blow for the West Midlands outfit, who needed a 93rd minute penalty from Raul Jimenez to salvage a point against Tony Mowbray's side upon their return to the Championship.
Wolves’ director of performance Phil Hayward revealed the extent of the respective injuries sustained last Friday.
Speaking on Trippier, he said: “Unfortunately, during the game on Friday night Kieran suffered an injury to his left MCL, the media ligament of the knee, not dissimilar to Rafiki's injury a few weeks ago, although this is a lot less severe.
“It's unfortunate that he's going to be out now for a number of weeks. He will be in a brace for the next week and had an injection on Wednesday to try and speed up the healing process, but he's going to be out for the next few weeks as he rehabs from that."
Hayward added: “Towards the end of the Blackburn game Yerson had a problem with his ankle.
“He had a scan on Sunday and has a high ankle ligament injury. It's not a particularly common ligament injury and it's not a complete tear to the ligament, which is good news, however he will still be out for a few weeks."
Should the pair make a return to fitness on the earlier side of the four-six week timeline, they could make a return to the fold when Wolves welcome West Brom in the Black Country derby on 20th September.
If it is that their recovery takes six weeks, they will miss the next eight fixtures in all competitions and will likely return to the side against Middlesbrough on 10th October after the international break.
This would see the defensive duo miss huge clashes against West Ham, Birmingham City and Sheffield United.
