Jannik Sinner has come from a set down to beat Alexander Zverev in a thrilling final and successfully defend his Wimbledon title.
History was up for grabs on both sides as Sinner was aiming to become the 10th player to win back-to-back Wimbledon titles, while Zverev was attempting to become the seventh player to win the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year.
The top two seeds in the draw had produced some sensational tennis throughout the fortnight and they certainly didn't disappoint during a sun-kissed afternoon on Centre Court.
Serve was dominant throughout the vast majority of the contest and a tiebreak was needed to decide the opening set.
Zverev was showing the confidence he had gained from breaking his major duck at the French Open and a huge forehand winner down the line saw him take the tiebreak 9-7.
Sinner however had come out on top in all nine of their most recent nine meetings and he dominated the second set tiebreak to win it 7-2 and level matters.
The extent to which serve was dominating was shown by the face we had to wait two hours and 53 minutes for a player to break.
It was the Italian world number one who struck first to move 5-3 up in the third and he went on to serve the set out to love to move to within a set of victory.
The 2025 Wimbledon champion impressively managed to go through the whole final without dropping his serve and he managed to get the all important break at 3-3 in the fourth set.
Victory was secured with almost four hours on the clock and after the disappointments at the Australian Open and French Open this year, Sinner has added a fifth Grand Slam title to his illustrious CV.
