Anticipation is building ahead of Keely Hodgkinson's effort in the Women's 800m at Saturday's Diamond League meeting in London.
British fans have been kept waiting to see Hodgkinson on the track on home shores after she was forced to withdraw from the 400m final at the UK Athletics Championship in late June.
Back fit and firing, the reigning Olympic champion is preparing to launch an assault on the longest-standing individual track world record, currently held by Jarmila Kratochvilova.
Kratochvilova's record has stood since 1983, recording at lightning-fast time of 1:53.28 in Munich. There are high hopes that Hodgkinson can dip under that time after she improved on her national record time to run a 1:54.33 in Stockholm earlier this year.
Close to 60,000 spectators are expected to be at the London Stadium to cheer the 24-year-old on as she attempts to create history at the London Stadium.
The Women's 800m is the final event of the day and is set to begin at 15:51 BST on Saturday 18th July.
A competitive nine-strong field has been assembled and Hodgkinson -- ranked number one in the world -- will be taken on by Addison Wiley and Tsige Duguma, who are ranked number six and eight respectively.
