The Diamond League has played host to some of the greatest athletes and witnessed several world record-breaking performances since its inception in 2010.
Across 32 core disciplines for men and women, 15 existing world records have been set in the Diamond League, ranging from the men's 5000m to the women's high jump.
Norway's long-distance star Jakob Ingebrigtsen set world records in the 2000m, 3000m and two miles across a fabulous period ranging from June 2023 to August 2024. Joshua Cheptegei set the world's fastest time in the men's 5000m at the Diamond League meeting in Monaco in August 2020, while American sprinter Aries Merritt set the fastest time ever recorded in the men's 110m hurdles at the Brussels meeting in 2012.
Ingebrigtsen is one of several male athletes to hold multiple records in the Diamond League alongside his compatriot Karsten Warholm and Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake, who chalked up the fastest times in the 100m and 200m - including a 9.69 in the 2012 Lausanne meeting, which is the second-fastest time over the distance.
In the women's events, Kenya's Faith Kipyegon has dominated the timesheets across the 1000m, 1500m and mile, while her compatriot Beatrice Chebet set world record times in the 5000m and 10,000m, both achieved at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene.
Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh is the world record holder in the women's high jump having achieved a height of 2.10 metres during the Diamond League's Paris meeting in 2024.
