When did Scotland last win a World Cup game?

Scotland's last World Cup victory was a 2-1 success over Sweden in their second group game of Italia '90'.

After a 1-0 defeat to Cost Rica in their tournament opener, Andy Roxburgh's side kept their hopes alive thanks to a first half goal from Stuart McCall and a penalty dispatched by Mo Johnston.

Despite the victory, Scotland would miss out on the knockout stages after conceding a late winning goal to Brazil in their final Group C fixture.

Prior to their victory over Sweden in Genoa, Scotland have won three other World Cup games in their history.

Between 1974 and 1982, Scotland won one game in each tournament - beating Zaire, the Netherlands and New Zealand but unfortunately missing out on making it through the group stages on each occasion.
