Entrants into the 2027 London Marathon ballot are facing an anxious wait to discover their fate.
It was announced earlier this year that the 2027 event received a record 1.3m applicants, prompting organisers to make the unprecedented decision to stage the 42.2km showpiece across two days.
The 2027 London Marathon is set to take place on Saturday 24th May and Sunday 25th May, a change that, according to event staff, will effectively double the chances of successful ballot entries.
So, when are the ballot results published?
Whilst there was no official date set for the publication of results upon applying for the ballot, CEO of London Marathon Events, Hugh Brasher, stated that runners will discover their fate by Tuesday 14th July.
Marathon hopefuls should receive their 'yes' or 'no' via email on the same day, all via email.
Compared to last year, the chances of hearing good news have been increased because of the switch to two days.
During the single-day event, there were roughly 17,000 to 20,000 places up for grabs via the ballot, however, organisers are saying that they expect to award 34,000 to 40,000 for the 2027 event.
On the basis of a 50,000-strong field, the chances of receiving a place in the ballot sit at around 7.5% - or a one in 13 chance.
This represents a significant increase on the 1.5%, or one in 67 chance of the single-day event.
Although we are still awaiting official confirmation, the initial plans for 2027 are for the elite women, elite female wheelchair athletes, championship and 'good for age' women to go off ahead of Saturday's mass event with the corresponding male events to lead the mass event on the following day.
