Carlos Alcaraz's US Open title defence continues when he locks horns with Ben Shelton in the quarter-finals on Sunday.
The Spaniard's first round encounter against Roman Safiullin marked his first appearance in nearly five months, having suffered a lengthy layoff due to a serious wrist injury.
After missing the French Open, Wimbledon, and the Cincinnati Open, the 23-year-old has returned with a vengeance, breezing past his opposition thus far and giving up just one set across four matches to set up a final eight clash with Shelton.

Alcaraz and Shelton have only faced one another on three occasions, with the two-time US Open winner emerging victorious in all three battles -- most recently in the fourth round of the French Open in June 2025.
